the best ways to GET INVOLVED AND STAY CONNECTED

TO YOUR CHILD'S VIrtual EDUCATION

If you are the parent of an existing, new or incoming student at AAV Virtual Academy, there are a number of ways to stay involved with your child’s education, find out what’s happening on our virtual campus and get notified of events which may interest you and your child.

One of the fastest and easiest ways to keep up-to-date on what’s going on at Virtual Academy is to log in to our website and read the weekly bulletin and announcements from teachers and staff. The bulletin is updated weekly with news, events, important dates and achievements of our students.

Additionally, AAV Virtual academy parents are in a unique and necessary position to monitor their child’s work and assignments by logging on to Canvas, the LMS (Learning Management System) where teachers post all classwork, homework and class updates. If your child has questions, the teacher is as close as a text or email. Virtual Academy teachers are available when your child needs an answer or you have a question. Training for parents on how to use the LMS and how to help your child manage his/her time efficiently is provided at Orientation and throughout the year.

You might also want to “Like” our AAV Virtual Academy Facebook page.  You can find it here!

You will also want to create your Parent PowerSchool account.  This is where you will find grades, attendance and homework/assignment information.  It’s an invaluable tool to help you stay informed on how your child is doing! Connect to the PowerSchool Parent Portal.

All teachers are available for in-person tutoring, and help at both Virtual Academy sites. Parents are encouraged to bring their children to the Virtual center weekly to check in with teachers and monitor work.  All full time students are required to attend a class level advisory meeting weekly in order to work with their class advisor to monitor work and to build relationships with other students. Select the "Student" or "Parent" tab on our homepage, then select "Teacher Office Hours and Locations" to view the calendar or follow the link Teacher Office Hours and Locations.

As you can see, there are many ways to get connected at AAV Virtual Academy.  Each and every one of them is important and vital to the success of our school.  Please consider some or all of these ways to help, get connected and stay informed.  Your child’s success depends on it!
