The Black History Committee for the Department of Public Social Services Lancaster District would like to grant an underprivileged student with a $500 scholarship. The only requirements they are seeking for the candidate to have is to be a recipient of one of our public assistance programs, CalFresh, CalWORKs, Medi-Cal or a Forster Care Youth and to be college-bound.
The student must provide:
- a brief biography
- an essay on the theme: "Black History Month--Believe, Acheive, Succeed"
The essay is due no later than 9:00a.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2017
There will be a celebration on Thursday, February 23, 2017, where the winner's essay will be read.
